SUNDAY POEMS
A painter and a poet walk into a gallery...
THE POETICS OF SPACE: PAINTINGS & POEMS
In lieu of my usual Sunday poem, I’m posting this image of a painting by my friend Lloyd Brooks. It’s one of several new works featured in The Poetics of Space, an exhibition of Lloyd’s works, accompanied by poems I wrote specifically for the show. Opening Tuesday, September 30 and running through December 4 at Gallery 505 inside the Columbus, Indiana Visitors Center, it’s a collaborative project exploring and extrapolating from the theme of the poetics of space. If you’re in the area during its run, please stop by. If you’re curious about the poems featured in the exhibition, they each appeared here on Substack earlier this year. • “Red” (here) • “Sacred Geometry” (here) • “Modern” (here) • “The Poetics of Space” (here) Those four were selected from a dozen poems I wrote in response to Lloyd’s offer to join him in his exhibition. I think of all twelve as “The Poetics of Space Collection,” and I might do something more with them in the future. What’s more, Lloyd and I enjoyed our collaboration, and we hope to expand on the show’s concept and theme going forward. In the meantime, we’re proud of this inaugural version of the exhibition.

Skip, these are truly wonderful.
P.S. Please do something with them in the future.
